CCA TAGGED REDFISH WAS CAUGHT ACROSS FROM PIER

November 27, 2011

Trout fishing has been good under the lights on the pier. Speck rigs and live shrimp have worked well. December should continue to bring trout, Redfish and flounder from the lake. The flounder regulation will change back on December 1, and five fish will be legal either gigging or on hook. Redfish will be in the deeper water near shallow flats when the water is cold, moving out into the flats when the sun warms the water. Crab, mullet aand shrimp all work well. Redfish will gather on the windward shorelines and pockets where bait has been congregated. Birds have been revealing schools of fish feeding on shrimp in the lake. The sportsmen who hang up their fishing gear in the fall and winter are missing out on some really good fishing. Try the day before a cool front and two to three days after. There is also some really good fishing right after a front if you find the bait congregated by the wind. The deeper cuts, like Coloma Creek, will hold Redfish most of the winter.
